"Embracing the melodies of our mother tongues, celebrating diversity, and honoring cultural heritage.”

On the occasion of Mother Language Day, learners of GISK came together to celebrate the rich diversity of languages through a poem recitation competition. This event aimed to honor the importance of mother tongues in preserving cultural heritage and fostering mutual understanding among communities. One’s mother language is a very potent tool that helps in advancing the learning skill in people. Children develop the skill of communication by conversing with their parents in their native tongue. It associates them to their culture, ensures enhanced cognitive development, and supports in the learning of other languages. At GISK, poem recitation competition was conducted on Wednesday, 21/02/2024 with an objective to raise awareness of mother language, cultural diversity and multilingualism around the world. The learners beautifully recited poems in their mother languages. It was mesmerizing to listen their sweet and mellifluous voice. Through this activity they were made aware of the fact that mother language plays a vital role in providing a definite shape to their emotions and thoughts and in promoting national integration. Participants showcased their linguistic prowess by reciting poems in their native languages, paying tribute to the beauty and depth of their mother tongues. The competition featured a variety of languages, reflecting the multiculturalism of the GISK community.

From heartfelt verses in Gujarati to melodious rhymes in Bengali, each recitation was a testament to the unique identity and significance of different languages. Through their passionate performances, participants not only celebrated their linguistic heritage but also promoted cross-cultural appreciation and unity. The event served as a reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting mother languages in a world that is increasingly interconnected yet diverse. By recognizing the value of linguistic diversity, GISK learners reaffirmed their commitment to embracing and celebrating the myriad languages that enrich our global community.
