GISK NATIONAL NUTRITION WEEK

GISK NATIONAL NUTRITION WEEK

National nutrition week is observed from 1st to 7th of September each year to raise the awareness about the importance of nutrition and promote healthy eating habits. It was first observed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development since 1982.

National Nutrition Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm at our primary school, emphasizing the importance of a balanced diet and healthy eating habits among young learners. This annual event aims to create awareness about the significance of nutrition in maintaining good health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases from an early age.

This year, the celebration included engaging and educational activities for different grades. The 7th and 8th graders participated in a “Fireless Cooking” activity, where they learned to prepare delicious and nutritious recipes without using a stove. This hands-on experience allowed them to explore different food groups, understand the nutritional value of ingredients, and practice basic culinary skills safely.

Meanwhile, the 5th and 6th graders showcased their creativity in a “Salad Decoration” competition. The young chefs demonstrated their artistic skills by crafting vibrant and healthy salads using a variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. This activity encouraged them to make healthy food choices while enjoying the process.

The learners thoroughly enjoyed these activities, which not only taught them the importance of nutrition but also instilled a sense of teamwork and creativity. Celebrating National Nutrition Week in such an interactive manner made learning about healthy eating both fun and memorable.
